Heat Pump Rebates Are Back in Ontario

Heat pump rebate is back in Ontario. Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pumps (ccASHP) are eligible for heat pump rebate starting Jan. 28, 2025. It is becoming a part of Home Renovations Savings (HRS) program.
What happens to Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program?
The (HER) offer has closed accepting of new applicants on January 27, 2025, ahead of the HRS
program launch on January 28, 2025. HER participants cannot transfer to the HRS program.
No Energy Audit or Assessment Are Needed
No energy audit is required for heat pump rebate. It will streamline the program administration. It will enable homeowners to receive their reimbursement faster. Heat pump rebates no longer need
pre and post assessments.
What type of homes qualify for the rebates?
No multi units – duplexes, triplexes, etc. It must be a single detached, semi-detached, row house,
townhome, or mobile home on a permanent foundation.
Does replacing of old heat pump qualifies for heat pump grant?
No, unfortunately not.
Heat pump rebates for multiple properties by the same owner.
You can participate in the heat pump grant program for each property you own. The properties must meet all eligibility criteria for each application. One important note – heat pump rebates are limited to only one eligible rebate per eligible home.
Do new homes qualify for the heat pump rebate?
New construction homes are not eligible for the Home Renovation Savings program. Homes
must have achieved at least six months of occupancy to qualify.
